Divorcing couples should expect delays as enquiries triple during lockdown (Telegraph 18 July 2020)

An article in this week's Telegraph (featuring Graham Coy from Wilsons) warns divorcing couples that, with the increase in enquires and cases relating to children and domestic abuse taking priority, the backlog in family courts are likely to get much worse following the pandemic. 

"Delays are going to cause problems, financially and otherwise. They could prevent couples from making use of the temporary stamp duty break if they are buying a new home and could create issues with splitting pensions if investment values are jumping up and down," Graham says. "Social distancing measures remaining in place for some time yet will prove a serious hindrance when it comes to clearing the backlog of cases."
