Andrew is a senior associate in our Charity Law & Governance team and has ten years' experience of advising charities and other not-for-profits on regulatory, constitutional and governance issues, commercial contracts, fundraising and intellectual property matters. Prior to joining Wilsons, Andrew was an associate in the charities team at London law firm Bircham Dyson Bell, which he joined in 2009 on qualification.
Andrew's practice covers a broad range of charity law work, including trustee duties, formation and registration of new charities, and advising existing charities on mergers and collaborative working, trading, commercial participation and other contractual arrangements. He works with charities of all shapes and sizes and has particular experience with Royal Charter bodies, statutory corporations and charities working overseas. He also regularly provides induction training for new charity trustees.
- Advising a large military charity on contractual and fundraising-related matters, including its relationships with commercial participators, corporate sponsors and professional fundraisers, and on trade mark and copyright issues.
- Advising a group of medical benevolent charities on their data sharing arrangements in light of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Advising a well-known heritage charity and statutory corporation on changes to its governance arrangements and on its application for a statutory instrument to amend its governing Act of Parliament.
- Drafting collaboration agreements to govern the relationship between an international child undernutrition charity and its implementing partners, which include Unicef and World Bank.
In his spare time, Andrew enjoys theatre, music and singing. He has performed with several chamber choirs and is a former trustee and Chairman of the London Philharmonic Choir.
