Court finds that parents of sperm donor have the right to see their son’s child
14 March 2018
The Court of Appeal has held that a couple has the right to some contact with a child which was conceived when their son was a sperm donor for a female same-sex couple.
The sperm donor already knew the parents of the child and saw their boy quite often on an informal basis, sometimes together with his own parents.
When the same-sex couple's relationship ended it became difficult for them to maintain any kind of relationship between the boy and the sperm donor and his parents but the Court of Appeal has now decided that it is in the child's best interests that there should continue to be some contact.
