Grandparents could obtain right to see grandchildren after parents’ divorce

The Government is considering a proposal that grandparents and other close relatives should be allowed contact with children after the children's parents have divorced.  If the proposal becomes law it is likely to lead to a reduction in conflict within families:  some MPs have reported situations in which grandparents have been interviewed by police for harassment after simply sending birthday cards to the children – a stressful experience for all involved.
