Registration will be from 09:30 for a 10:00 start with lunch included and drinks at 16:00 to close.

The focus of the day is to provide practical advice on a range of current issues.

Topics include:

• Ex gratia payments. What has changed and what hasn't changed after the Charities Act 2011 was amended last year? Practical advice on how to deal with ex gratias correctly.
• Inheritance Tax on pension funds. The law will change next April – how will it work, and how will it affect charitable legacies?
• Inheritance Tax on discretionary gifts to charity – the law changed recently, how might it affect you?
• From the courts – a round-up of the most important recent cases for the charity legacy sector.
• Update on the residential property market, and advice on how to realise best value from probate properties. Plus, a review of recent changes affecting overage (clawback) payments.
• Data protection – what information are life tenants entitled to ask for, from your files?
• A focus on capacity – when is a statutory Will the right option, how can a Will successfully be challenged based on a lack of capacity, and where does knowledge and approval fit in? What's the relationship between the three, and how can you use them to safeguard gifts for your charity?

The format of the day allows plenty of time for questions, and the focus will be practical throughout, with an emphasis on how the law helps (or hinders) your daily caseload. All that, with a good lunch and plenty of opportunity for networking.
