Date: 7 November 2019

Venue: Wilsons Solicitors, Alexandra House, St Johns Street, Salisbury SP1 2SB

Time: 08:00 - 10:00

Our upcoming HR Briefing will consider the problematic topic of dealing with ill-health absence. The briefing will involve a case study dealing with the issues common to this subject.

The briefing will be followed by coffee and a chance to speak to our lawyers about any issues currently affecting your organisation.

Briefing begins

Part 1:
Initial steps in taking control of long-term sickness absence
Our case study starts with an employee who has been off sick for a month. We will cover requests for medical information and how to ensure these are GDPR compliant, as well as managing an employee who does not engage with the sickness management process.

Part 2:
Considering whether an employee is disabled
We will assess whether the employee is disabled, the legal obligation to make reasonable adjustments and just how far the employer should go when considering adjustments in our case study.

Part 3:
Dismissal – is it fair?

We will end our case study with the dismissal of the employee, the fair dismissal process and looking at potential pitfalls.
