When your personal or business reputation is under threat or has been damaged, it is important to act quickly to protect yourself and on the basis of high quality advice from experienced lawyers.

We are able to advise individuals, businesses and other entities on how to use the law of defamation (libel and slander), malicious falsehood, privacy, confidentiality, harassment and data protection to protect their reputations and guard against or respond to adverse and intrusive publicity.

Pre-publication

Using our relationships with specialist barristers' chambers and media publishers, our aim is to prevent or influence potentially damaging or private publications before they are made and to obtain undertakings or injunctions (in relation to private and confidential information and harassment) to prevent further publication.

Post-publication

If publication has already taken place, we will seek the removal or correction of false or private information, a retraction or apology, and compensation for the loss you have sustained.  As a last resort and where negotiation fails, we will make regulatory complaints or litigate efficiently and cost-effectively on your behalf.

Traditional and modern media

We advise on publication across the full-range of media including verbal allegations, traditional print and broadcast media, online publication and the proliferation of social media.  We can help you identify the individual or entity targeting you and take action against them to secure a correction or removal of content and links to it, or to stop online harassment.

Crisis Management

Threats to your business can come from outside entities or from within.  We can advise you on how to prepare for these crises and how to respond to them, including enforcing confidentiality obligations and covenants in restraint of trade and taking action in respect of data and computer misuse.

Content Clearance

It is easy to inadvertently fall foul of defamation laws and regulatory codes.  To minimise the risk that our clients become potential defendants in litigation, we are happy to provide pre-publication advice on the content of clients' own publications or statements.
