The Law Society Gazette has published an article featuring comments from Senior Associate, Kate Stockdale on the problems in recruitment and retention of conveyancing solicitors and experienced support staff that stretch back to the last housing crash.

Even during good times, the problem is magnified as increased workloads do not ease the downward pressure on fees. Lenders chase matters they know cannot be hurried, and even fire safety standards are now falling under the responsibilities of conveyancers. Experienced conveyancers are reported to be turning work away as a result of these challenges.

Kate comments: "There’s a balance to be struck between having the right level of staff and still having a good turnover."
