Same-Sex Parents not Recognised in Italy
30 July 2018
The Italian Families Minister has stated that same-sex couples who have children abroad via surrogacy should not be recognised as their child's legal guardians and the deputy prime minister said that he would defend the right of children to have "a mother and a father" and that "gametes for sale and wombs for rent … are crimes".
The comments were directed towards Turin, which legally registers same-sex parents of children born via IVF or surrogacy.
